OH MY GOODNESS - I ALMOST DIED. I just went out to the garage to get a can of soda. But little did I know, I was not the only one entering the garage. Just as I reached to open the refrigerator door, I looked up and saw Walter - FIVE FEET AWAY FROM ME!! He had just come through the cat door and was poised at the entrance to the cat condo. I froze, my heart racing. And Walter? Well, he just played opossum. It took me a full minute to calm down enough to actually move. We both stood there, our gazes locked, frantically scrambling for an exit strategy. Finally, I decided that since the refrigerator door opened towards me, I could stand behind it as I opened it, then reach over the door to get my soda. Then I would high-tail it out of there. As I slowly opened the door, Walter dashed into the condo. I snatched a can of Icy Cold Carbonated Goodness and quickly made my escape. This is the first time I've seen Walter since I posted about him the first time. Obviously, I didn't really run him down as I threatened to. But now - I may have to send out a posse.

Strange bedfellows
Ok, so I know it's been a long time since I've posted, and I promise to update you soon. This, however, is not that post.
Right now I'm just posting because I want to share this bizarre picture that I took moments ago. Apparently an opossum has befriended the 3 cats who live here. Or something.
Although you can only see one in the picture, there are three cat beds along the wall of the garage here, and when I got home, the three cats were in their beds and the opossum was in the little house-type thing. Apparently, it has figured out how to use the cat door. Ironically, I think only one of the cats has figured it out...
Anyway, the opossum was here thursday night and we were trying to figure out how to get it out of the garage. While we stood there contemplating our options, one of the cats walked up to the opossum, sniffed at it for a moment, then got in the bed next to it. It appeared to be the typical exchange between two friendly cats. Weird, right? I just hope it's not pregnant and I don't go in the garage tomorrow to discover a litter of baby opossums.
